Day by Day Journal, Page 55, Conflict at Dranesville

"Southern men whiped at Dranisville [Dranesville]"

The conflict at Dranesville was a small battle that followed the Battle of Ball’s Bluff of October 1861. The battle at Dranesville occurred on December 20, 1861, when a foraging expedition under Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart ran into Union General E.O.C. Ord and his Pennsylvania Reserves. Though small, this battle was the first time that the Union was able to defeat the Confederates.
